Call For Presentations

Call for Speakers and Session Proposals

We invite you to contribute to the upcoming ISMTE 2025 North American Conference, Editors Without Borders: Breaking Silos in a Technological World, taking place in Montreal, Canada, on August 5-8. This meeting brings together editorial office professionals globally to explore collaboration, innovation, and adaptability in an increasingly evolving world.

The ISMTE North American planning committee have already identified a number of potential topics, but we want to hear from YOU, our members, what ideas and solutions you have to share with the community. For this purpose, we have set aside a limited number of session slots for proposals. We are seeking speakers and session proposals that offer practical insights, hands-on learning, and actionable strategies to help attendees navigate evolving editorial workflows, emerging technologies, and cross-functional collaborations. Help us create a dynamic program that empowers editorial professionals to break down silos and embrace the future of scholarly publishing!

The deadline for proposals is FRIDAY, MARCH 14TH.

Here are some important points to note before you submit:

  • Annual event speakers generally do not receive a complimentary registration, but exceptions can be considered in cases of need. If you require a complimentary registration, please make note of this in your proposal.

  • Speakers must be able to travel to and attend the conference in person, but we can consider proposals that involve a multi-media approach of in-person speakers and pre-recorded remarks.

  • For session proposals, please provide as much detail as possible. Focus on learning objectives, presentation method and any interactive components that allow attendees to practice, discuss or apply information learned during the session. Note that break-out sessions have a 45-minute time limit.

  • The committee will prioritize sessions that involve speakers from more than one organization and consider a diverse range of viewpoints, backgrounds, and experiences. Sessions that are more commercial in nature or those that feature a single company/solution are more suitable for our Vendor Session or Innovation Session tracks. Please see the Prospectus here for more information on these opportunities.

  • For speaker proposals: the committee is already in the process of developing sessions on the following topics. Let us know if these are topics you would be interested in speaking on:

    o Transfer cascade best practices
    o Career trajectory
o Article promotion & social media
o Reporting & data analysis for the editorial office
o Measuring journal impact & ranking
    o AI & image manipulation
    o Researching diverse audiences

This call for presentations and speakers can be completed using the online web form below. Please feel free to contact the ISMTE Executive Director if you have any questions or need assistance.
