Managing editors are responsible for the operations of a publication or several publications, including books and journals, overseeing contributors, peer reviewers, editors, manuscript production steps, and freelance or other personnel. This session will provide a comprehensive look at the core responsibilities of managing editorial workflows in book and journal publishing, and the skills and knowledge that are required for a career as a managing editor. You’ll learn how you can build your career as a managing editor, ways to get involved in publishing industry associations, and lessons for becoming a successful leader in the field.
