ISMTE EON Editorial Board

PURPOSE 
To provide editor support and ethical oversight, offer advice, and help determine the direction of Editorial Office News (EON). 

STRATEGY 
Scope: 
Provide feedback, develop ideas for EON content, and support Editors when needed. Read monthly issues of EON and be familiar with EON content. Promote EON and related initiatives. Offer ethical oversight and help determine ethical policies when needed. Solicit articles and contribute original content.  

Reporting: 
Regular monthly reporting to the ISMTE Board of Directors shall occur through submission via the Board Reports portal. Additional communication between the Board and the Editorial Board can occur through the Editorial Board’s assigned Board of Directors liaison.   

Meeting Schedule: 
The EON Editorial Board will conduct business through an ongoing schedule of quarterly conference calls, with additional calls as needed.   

Decision Model: 
The Editorial Board is organized around a consensus decision model. Where consensus cannot be reached, the majority vote shall rule. If there is no majority, the Co-Editor-in-Chief/Editorial Board liaison will be the decider.  

COMPOSITION AND TERMS OF OFFICE 

Board Liaison:  

The Board Liaison will be designated each year by the President of the Board, but the Board Liaison may request to represent another committee at the start of each year.  The Board Liaison is a member of the ISMTE Board of Directors so the term could be one, two or three years, depending on the number of years remaining in their term on the Board.    

Editorial Board Chair: 
The ISMTE EON Editorial Board Chair will be an experienced ISMTE member as determined and appointed by the Board of Directors/Board Liaison. The Chair term will be for 2 years with 1 annual reappointment possible for a third year. The total term as chair may not exceed 3 years.   

Editorial Board Vice-Chair:
The Vice-Chair will be an ISMTE member who has served on the committee at least one year. The Vice-Chair term will be for one year with one annual reappointment possible for a second year.    

EON co-Editors-in-Chief: 
Is the point of contact between the Editorial Board and the EON editorial team.   

Editorial Board Members: 
  • Select a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 ISMTE members to serve as volunteers on the EON Editorial Board, with no more than 2 from the same organization. 
  • Preferred selection criteria for members include, but are not limited to, the following factors: high ethical standards, detail oriented, strong communication skills, broad understanding of scholarly publishing landscape, ideally with a record of EON contribution and familiarity with the publication.
  • Editorial Board members serve for 2 years with an optional third year.   


RESPONSIBILITIES  
The Editorial Board Members will: 

  • Agree to the roles, responsibilities, and duties, per a signed formal agreement, prior to the commencement of group work. 
  • Review ISMTE communications and material forwarded for review. 
  • Actively contribute knowledge and expertise to journal initiatives. 
  • Attend all scheduled conference calls and additional calls as needed. 
  • Review all published issues of EON
  • Serve as an ambassador for ISMTE within their circle of influence. 


CONFLICT OF INTEREST 
All members of the ISMTE EON Editorial Board will be required to notify the group of any conflicts of interest. Each year all Editorial Board members will be asked to sign a Conflicts of Interest statement, which will be approved by the Ethics Committee and filed at ISMTE. If there is a question as to a potential conflict on any topic, the Editorial Board member should request clarification from the Editorial Board chairperson.
