Description
In recent years, the idea of giving researchers more control over the decision of when to publish has been gaining traction in the research community, and the rise of preprint servers in the biomedical sciences is an example of this trend. In this roundtable discussion, we explore independent and journal-agnostic peer review with representatives from Review Commons, eLife and PREreview discussing the practical steps they have taken to realise this vision. Sara Monaco discusses Review Commons, which offers authors “transportable” peer review; Andy Collings talks about eLife's Preprint Review service, which offers authors the chance to post referee reports on bioRxiv; and Daniela Saderi covers the experience of creating a global journal club to crowdsource preprint reviews.
