The International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) launched in 2007, filling an under-served niche within the academic, scientific, medical, technical, and professional editorial publishing industry. Established to enhance the professionalism of editorial office staff by providing networking and training infrastructure, establishing best practices, and studying and reporting on editorial office practices, ISMTE intends to become an advocate on all issues relating to editorial office operations.

            Small Staff Organizations
ISMTE is happy to offer discounted membership to editorial offices with 10 or fewer employees. We hope this discount will allow each of your editorial office staff members to take advantage of the training,
networking, and savings available to ISMTE members. Here's how it works:

                - The first member from your office joins or renews at the current Individual rate and informs ISMTE at info@ismte.org the names, titles, and emails of staff who wish to join or renew.

- Additional staff, in a 2-step process, can then register for $130.00 USD – a $65.00 USD discount or the current prorated rate -  and then be confirmed as eligible and approved by ISMTE.

What Do ISMTE Members Think? We Asked!

            Michael Willis, Researcher Advocate, Wiley
Since joining ISMTE shortly after it was founded, and working as I do in a large publishing house, I have benefited immensely from expanding my network of editorial office professionals, keeping abreast of industry developments, and learning
about new technologies and processes that can help us improve the service we provide to researchers. Joining the Board and chairing Committees also helped me develop leadership skills that have contributed to progressing my publishing
                career.

            Phaedra Cress, Executive Publisher, Journals
The more involved I have become with ISMTE over the years, the more value and benefit I have derived. I’ve had the opportunity to chair and participate in several committees that has led to wonderful dialogue and professional friendships and
collaborations. The caliber of members at ISMTE is very experienced and in particular, I appreciate the ability to ask and answer questions on the ListServe, which is a rich resource for communication and learning. The webinars cover timely
topics and I’ve truly enjoyed moderating and participating with my knowledgeable committee colleagues. I would encourage all ISMTE members who have been on the fringes—looking and learning but perhaps not actively participating—to jump
in and join a committee, write an article for the EON, or volunteer to help with social media and marketing. These experiences have enriched my career and helped me to advance and I hope you will have a similar experience as you give back
to ISMTE that has given so much to its members.
